I have installed win 7 on my portable HDD. But when i select usb device and try to boot from bios, its showing bootmgr is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart

i have used this procedure from part 2 of the given link

i didnt use part 1 as i formatted the external hard drive manually from properties.

please help me to solve it.

You normally cannot boot Windows from an external HDD, even though the Windows installer lets you install it on there.

 

So you're going to have to do Part 1, if that even works.

 

EDIT: This may only apply to USB based external drives. I believe eSATA may work, since it looks like regular SATA as far as the system is concerned.
