On my quest for a quiet computer, I've been able to find and replace most of the noise in my computer. My main issue at this point is the fan on my power supply. I'm currently running an EVGA Supernova 750 B2, which is a high quality power supply, but is the only noise I can really hear in my case.

Are their any reasonably priced power supplies that are known to be quiet? Downsizing would be okay, but I'd like to keep it modular if possible.

Specs:

  • i5 4590
  • RX 470
  • 2 x 4 GB, may upgrade to 4 x 4
  • Hyper 212 EVO
  • 2 120MM Fans
  • 2 Hard Drives + SSD
  • 2 Optical Drives (I could take the DVD drive out)

You don't have a signature.

You need more ram and that psu is just fine. Maybe you could look for a be quiet psu though.

🙂

What fans are the 120mm ones?

For true silence you'd want to minimize HDD usage by using it for things like photo storage, video storage and programs that don't run in the background.

You could maybe do with getting a quieter fan on the 212 Evo.

As for the PSU, SeaSonic and EVGA both have silent PSUs

I don't necessarily need silent, I'd just like one that isn't very loud. The silent ones I've seen have been significantly more expensive.
