Just got a new graphics card (first graphics card) and installed it to my motherboard.  I booted up my computer, everything powered on, including the rx 460, but I had no visuals.  I am using the hdmi slot and when I take the card out the cpu onboard graphics works just fine.  I installed the drivers from AMD's website and nothing.  I have the driver disk, but do not have a internal or external cd-rom drive.  I tried to install the drivers onto a usb and boot from there but still nothing.  What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

🙂

Did you plug you monitor cable into the HDMI near the USB and such or to the back of the graphics card?

I plugged in both the usb and the hdmi cable to try and get the card to boot from the drivers I installed on the usb.

if it works with integrate do graphics then it isn't the cable, but could you try a different type of cable to make sure that port on the GPU isn't shot? IDK how much I can help you man, I'm grasping at straws.

cannot try a different cable. Don't have a dp or dvi-d cable.  Would like to know if I did anything wrong with installing drivers because that may be the problem.

Did you uninstall old driver before installing new ones?

It posts but no display.  I cannot get into the bios or anything on that card.  Just the fans spin when I boot up.

Could this be unrelated to the GPU ? Maybe your mobo got rattled around and needs to be reseated?

If that were the case would my gpu turn on? Nothing has been moved in my case.  I think the mobo is ok, thanks for the help.

Do you have any friends who would be willing to put your card in their machine to make sure the card is messed up or it is driver issues not something else?

I might be able to get someone to loan me an external cd-drive to try and boot the card alongside the drivers, since it says to do that in the manual. THanks!.

I bought one of these and put it in my new PC, worked just fine. Tried it out on an old computer I had and same result as you are having.

Could not get it working until I did a BIOS upgrade, I guess the BIOS was about 5 years out of date, needed an update to recognize it properly.
