So I watched Level1Tech's (Wendel from Tek Syndicate's new channel) videos titles "Curing Consolitis"  where they discussed about where to get really good deals on used PC. Which includes e-waste centres and auction listing from Universities and large companies that are trying to sell their old surplus of old electronics.

This led to me looking for listings locally and I found this listing at a university that is in my city:

Computer Q87M-DA-l54570-08-128 (min. bid $100/ea)
Condition: Good

Just from the code of numbers, we can wee that the computer runs on the Q87 chipset from Intel which is a "business" class chipset so isn't as fully featured as say the Z87 or even H87 board. However what gets me excited is the i5 4570 CPU which is more than capable for everyday tasks and even gaming and is worth more the $100 asking price alone. The "08" in bunch of numbers is what would guess is 8GB of RAM which is prety nice for an "office PC". And the 128 is probably the capacity of the hard drive which is good enough. The listing says that there are 25 of them so I'm looking to buy a few and try to part out and sell the CPU  and RAM for a profit.

My question is whether or not to buying a few of these systems and try to flip the parts like the i5 4570 and the RAM for a small profit is even worth it. I'm likely going to buy at least one or two of them for my parents as they are currently using really old laptops running a core2duo and a pentium from like 2008 or something so getting them these systems could be a really nice upgrade for them.
