1440P CPU?

JohnFPS

I have been planing out a build for some time now for Gaming and streaming to Twitch. I want to play games at 1440p MAX setting and I was thinking is 1440p harder to run on your cpu then 1080p. My build is GPU EVGA 1080 FTW and CPU i7-5820k but Will be streaming in 720p to twitch. Do you guys think that A 5820k is good enough to stream at 720p and play at 1440p. Because I could save up and buy the 5960x but DON'T want to have to spend more if I don't have to. Thanks for help everyone

if you don't already have the CPU, I would grab the 6800k, if you do, then stick with it, it's still a very strong CPU!

A 5820k will do it with ease, even my weak E3-1220v3 can play around in 1440p, since CPUs just need to be good enough to not bottleneck your GPU.

You coild also spend a little more and pick up a 6800k for future proofing, if you don't already have the 5820k on hand.

My i7 3770 non-k is perfectly happy with 1440p.

CPU becomes more of a bottleneck with higher FPS, and not as much with higher resolution.

When in doubt, re-format.
