Fan Questions

I'm doing a new build using the Define R4 and I have some questions.

 

1. I'm using a SeaSonic X-850 PSU, will I have enough room to mount a 140mm intake fan on the bottom fan mount? 

 

2. I need some good fans, a nice mix of silence and performance. I know Noctuas are good fans but just a little too expensive. Out the list whats a good fan, if it's not on the list then tell whats a better fan.

3. Should I buy PWM fans or 3 pin?

 

4. Should I use the built in fan controller on the R4 or use the fan headers on my Motherboard (ASUS Z87 Hero)?

3 vs 4 pin is down to your usage scenario. My case has a built in fan controller, so I would elect to use 3 pins. Attaching right to the motherboard, it's probably best to take 4 pins.

Any of those fans are a good choice, I would use the built in fan controller since it's really handy and it just a quick flip of the switch. I would get 3 pin fan headers for the ones that you're going to be using as intakes and exhaust.

I might go with the cougar fans then. Anyone know if my PSU will cover up the bottom fan mount?
