Sound cards? Wired/wireless adapters?

Do I need a sound card? This may be a dumb question but I've never built a computer and I don't want to have to order parts once I get all the parts I'd order... And what's with the wired or wireless adapters? Can't you just connect your PC to the router? These are probably all dumb questions but I don't know the answers... Any help?

If you have special headphones (that require more power), you may require a sound card. There are ethernet ports built into your mobo, but if you require a wireless adapter then you will need one unless it's built into the board.

idk

depends what motherboard you have. most motherboards nowadays have decent on-board audio so you dont need a sound card. however, if you have headphones that are hard to drive and you're experiencing one of these problems:

then an external dac or amp can be bought :) that topic is worth a read.

Most decent modern motherboards can drive fairly good quality audio without need for an additional sound card.

Wired NICs are useful if you need more ports such as to use your PC as an impromptu router.

Wireless NICs are useful if your motherboard doesn't come with wifi, or comes with shitty wifi, or you want support for newer Wifi.
