Here's the back story, a little over four years ago I finished the air cooled version of this AMD based computer that incorporated two XFX HD 6970 GPUs in crossfire (bought from New Egg at the same time and order). I began like most by buying one component at a time until enough parts were bought to start my first loop. To make a long story short, when it came to installing the water blocks I found that one of my GPU's was a reference card and the other was not. The water blocks I bought only fit the reference card so I was stuck only running one of my GPU's for some time now. So after some time running only one GPU I have decided to go for broke and do what ever it would take to fit this water block to a non-reference card.

Here are some stock photos of the Razor HD 6970 water block made by XSPC before modding.

As you can see here there was a ton of carving with the dremel tool to make clearances.

A little Thermo-Pad Installed.

The black aluminum plate was cut off the end and the underside had to be dremeled out to fit.

I didn't have any supper thin thermal-pads to use so I smeared some paste on.

I cut and drilled the plain top aluminum plate to hold the black plate down and to maybe help transfer heat back to the water block (?).

Here's a close-up of both cards.
