I am going to be building my computer soon, (First one) and have always been interested in mini-Itx builds. The just seemed so cool how so much could fit in such little cases. I have picked out two sets of parts that are very similar, with the only difference being form factor. My question here is: if I go with a mini-Itx build, will I regret it in the long run?

Parts list:

Case: Corsair 750D or Bitfenix Prodigy

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VI Hero or Maximus VI Impact

CPU: i7 4770k

GPU: EVGA GTX 780 (Don't think its worth it to get 780ti, but I will have to see the benchmarks)

Storage: WD Black 2TB + Samsung 840 Pro 256GB

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz (2x8GB)

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

PSU: Corsair AX760

Case Fans: If mini-Itx, 3xAF120's. If ATX, 5xAF140's vein. Controlled by NZXT Sentry 2

Any advice welcome and greatly appreciated.

Is sacrificing a whole lot of expandability worth the novelty of an ITX build?

Pretty much.

I started atx then realized I never was really going to add more things since I already have a good external audio setup and I regretted the large form factor. Luckily I was able to get most of my money back reselling the mobo so I was able to downsize pretty easily.

So look at what you may need in the future then decide. And if you're not sure but still like smaller sizes go matx and grab a 350d instead of the 750d!

Yeah, go with ATX for the upgradability. ITX builds are fun for the first week until you want to add in another graphics or capture card.

Speaking of which, most of your build 'isn't worth it'. It's full of non-value friendly expensive parts.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
