I need help picking parts to upgrade my computer, since I want to be able to play games at higher frame rates.

Current Specs:

AMD Athlon 5350
2GB Asus Radeon R7 240
Gigabyte GA-AM1M-S2H
4GB Crucial Ballistix Sport
1TB Seagate Barracuda
Rosewill FBM-01 (Without power supply)

EVGA 500w

I don't need something extreme, and I don't have the money for it. Just recommendations on a better graphics card or cpu or whatever. thanks

Cool, let's keep your case, storage and PSU for now. You can get a big upgrade. And an SSD for fast booting of Windows (install Windows on the SSD and it should activate by itself).

Might be an improvement, but it would make more sense to buy better parts now and upgrade the rest later IMO.

so you can drop $600 now, and upgrade later is what you are saying? also for that upgrade later, what is the max budget for that future upgrade? Personally, I'd go for an i7/i5 right now and just game on integrated graphics or just buy a used GPU, then later on upgrade

Why not hyper212?

Because it's not needed and the 212 is bad value anyway?

I thought the hyper 212 evo is still the budget king...

Nowhere near. $15-$20 coolers with 92mm fans are matching it, and wonders like the Deepcool Gammaxx 400 wipe the floor with it for the same price.

Well, you thought wrong. The Hyper 212 is getting beaten by cheaper, cooler coolers (< wtf). :)

It's the most popular option, but it isn't the best by far. If that were true everyone would still be using arctic silver 5.
