100% Disk usage. SOLVED

Peteris

Hello,

I probably wouldn't have noticed this, unless I wasn't trying to get into GTA V, for which the loading took about 3 minutes (normally 30-60 seconds) and had a ton of pop-in issues. Now, it was perfectly fine when I played it last night, everything was loading in as quickly as ever, but today, about 16 hours later, it's slow. The whole PC feels very sluggish suddenly, so I was curious, what could be causing this, then I looked at my task manager, this is what I see http://prntscr.com/dijo77

Now, yes, it is my OS drive, BUT I've never seen it be 100% CONSTANTLY not dropping even a single percent. 100% usage while it's using 1.2 MB/s doesn't feel right either.

So, my question is:

Could this actually be the problem that's causing my game and whole PC in general to run sluggishly? and how do I solve it?

Here's some specs if needed:

CPU: FX-6300

GPU: Asus Radeon R7 360OC

RAM: 8GB DDR3 1866Mhz

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970A

HDD: Seagate BARRACUDA 1TB 7200RPM

So you're suggesting it should just go down eventually?

Click on the Performance tab in task manager and click 'Open Resource Monitor' at the bottom, the disk section here will you give you much more detailed information on what exactly is accessing the disk and should help you to figure out what is causing the problem.

The high disk usage was caused by Windows acting up and failing to install updates in the background over and over again. Turning off the PC and completely draining the power seems to have fixed the issue. The disk usage no longer exceeds 10% when simply browsing the web.
