So, I'm an idiot. I bought DDR4 2400Mhz RAM to go with the Gigabyte Z170-HD3 motherboard as I misread the info and thought it could support it. Nope. Turns out it only naturally supports DDR4 2133Mhz, and any higher must be the result of OCing. And it's not auto tuning it down.

Can someone explain to me, in layman's terms, how to underclock it so I can stop blue screening? Thanks if you do.

It would be more stable at the marketed settings. Technically they never even test if the sticks work at anything else. There really is no downside to leaving it as it is. But if you insist, take a look at your motherboard manual. You need to enter three things: DRAM speed, DRAM Timings (Also called CAS Latency) and DRAM Voltage. You got your desired speed there, 2133MHz but the timings and voltage you have to come up with yourself. Again, the marketed values would be best but then again, if you leave your voltage and timings up, you don't even gain the lesser heat and power consumption from this endeavor.
