Hey,

I'm finally ready to order my build, after months of learning and reading about how to build a PC. Just wanted to show it to you guys prior to ordering to make sure everything is OK.

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K Tray

Cooler: Noctua U14S

Mobo: Gigabyte HD3P Z170

RAM: Corasir Vengeance LPX 16GB 3000MHZ

PSU: Antec 550W NeoEco Semi-Modular

Case: Fractal Design Define S

HDD: 2TB Segate BarraCudda

SSD: M.2 MX300 525GB

What do you guys think? Is everything seems alright? My main concern is compatibilty between RAM and Mobo at 3000Mhz...

I'm currently not getting GPU, this rig is not intended for gaming purposes.

Thanks!

Can you please explain and support you argument?

Gigabyte have not made a decent board since LGA1155, I have had two of their boards just stop working, I have heard nothing but bad from "gigashit". Gigashit was not made up by me. They also have notoriously bad support.

I can easily find unsatisfied customers like you for every motherboard manufacturer. Don't get me wrong - I do believe your story, but I don't think Asus or ASRock is any better. It comes with 3 years warranty and I can only hope I won't need to replace it...

I'm not the only one who says this. It's only really their motherboards. Anyway you asked what people thought and this is what I think.

I'm 100% thankful you pointing it out, sorry if it seems like I'm a bit angry or something- I really don't, you misunderstood me. Thank you for your help. I will check if there's decent board from another manufacturer with similar specs and I might switch to it.

Thanks again :)

No worries :)

Generally people would say to avoid MSI, Asus and Gigabyte. Evga are very good.

acually evga don't make much mobo. Aaus is fine and so does MSI. I have an Asus board atm. But it's up to OP to decide. Board that break easily will be really rare.

tbh I have heard more bad things about MSI than either Gigashit and Asus. I personally have had terrible customer support with MSI. Took me three months too return a overheating GPU.

We're talking about motherboards, never lucky xD

The simplest solution would be to get DDR4-2133 or 2400. The difference in performance between 2133 and 3000 is negligible.

As far as motherboard brands are concerned, there are some brands that are not very good (like ECS?), but Gigabyte, MSI, ASUS, and ASrock are not among them.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

It costs a bit more than 2133 and I need fast RAM while I don't have GPU because it will be used as VRAM too.

The Corsair memory default speed is 2133, and can be set using XMP. Worst case scenario I'd leave XMP off...

Lol, guess every company is not (and actually far, from being) perfect
