unicode Unicode creation help

So for fun my friend and I are making a language and to make things easier we want to be able to have our newly created characters on the computer to mess with, so I got on "Private Character Editor" by windows and found it was very difficult to get the correct shape of the character I needed and also to keep the sizes of the characters consistent, so unless you guys can link me to a much more user friendly Unicode making software than I request for someone who is "skilled" in some sort of Unicode Character making software to create the characters needed for my friend and I.
