1060 or 480?

I want to upgrade my video card and dont know whether to get the 480 or 1060 for the $200-$260 range

 

I know that the 480 is cheaper but is it worth getting the 1060 for 50$ more(if they are only $50 more)

 

Which should I get?

The 1060 6GB is (most of the time) better than the RX 480. If the cheapest non-reference RX 480 is more than $30~ cheaper than the cheapest 1060 6GB, then get said non-reference RX 480.

480 for the future 1060 for now, 1060 will play most title better than 480 in current games but if you turn on vulkin or dx 12 the 480 beats 1060. also 480 is cheaper.

Sadly though, by the time DX12/Vulkan is mainstream, the Polaris and Pascal architectures will be outdated.

Y'all aren't thinking about the monitor. Freesync is basically a free feature. G-SYNC adds an extra $200.
