Will an ssd raid improve game fps and can i setup 2 ssds in raid 0 and 4 in raid 10 on the same mb?

while it will Improve load and boot times it will have virtually no effect on FPS in gaming.

I'm pretty sure SSD's only affect boot speeds and transfer speeds. So I'm (don't quote me on this) pretty sure that having 2 SSD's in raid 0 will be the same as having 1 HDD performance wise

The answer is no. And SATA SSDs are almost at the limit of improving load time performance for most applications, so you really wouldn't notice the improved loading performance.

It will have no affect on FPS. It can improve load times, but compared to a single SSD, RAID 0 won't make a whole lot of difference for loading games. 

 

Whether you can have that setup or not depends on the board, or the RAID hardware or software solution you use.

thanks for the answers. i have not found any testing on the fps for raid and not much in the way of answers.  i found alot of maybes or probly nots.  id like to see linus do a vid on it.

It doesn't affect it at all. Games are loaded from storage into RAM and then run from there. The only way it would affect FPS is if you run out of RAM and have to use the page file. Depending on how the game manages texture loading, storage speed can affect texture pop-in, but the difference between a single SSD and a pair in RAID 0 would be negligible as the file sizes would be too small to take advantage of it. 

I have done my own testing with RAID 0 vs single SSD and HDD and it makes no difference at all (I have 2x 840 EVOs in RAID 0, a single 840 EVO and a Seagate Barracuda that I used.) SSD improved load times compared to HDD and RAID 0 is basically identical to single SSD.
