Hi LTT,

i have built the following PC  a few months ago:

AMD FX 9590 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ 8MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
Corsair Hydro Series H115i 280mm Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
MSI 990FXA GAMING Socket AM3+ 7.1- Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3L DRAM 1600MHz C9 Memory Kit RED 1.35V (TOTAL 32GB)
EVGA Supernova 1000W Fully Modular 80+ Gold Power Supply
Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Full Tower ATX Case

My exisitng dual HD6950 in crossfire mode graphics cards

MSI's website states that this 220W CPU is supported but points to requiring extra cooling, hence why i purchased the H115i.

Initially i thought it was a windows 10 issue, being a new OS and it stabilized after a while, but then it didn't.

so i get this freezing issue when paying games and it can happen straight away or after a few hours, totally random.

it also happens if watching youtube or a video on vlc or media player.

i have installed windows 7 x64 ultimate

windows 7 x64 pro

windows 8

windows 10

same everytime.

i have stripped the hardware back to just 1 grafix card, 16gb of ram and still get the same issue.

any ideas? i feel like taking this thing outside and setting it on fire atm.

Hi Ninjake,

It has both an SSD and HDD

Toshiba P300 2TB 3.5'' SATA High-Performance Hard Drive

Kingston 120GB SSD

The Toshiba HSS drive has the OS installed

The SSD drive is only used for when i am running VMs on ESXi server, which i boot from a USB flash drive

There are no errors on either drive.

If you have Windows 10, open up the task manager and click the "Performance" tab. Keep this window open and look at your "Drive usage" chart. Whenever your system has a random "freeze", look to see if your drive usage spikes to 100%.

This is exactly the same as what has occurred to me after buying a WD Blue from Best Buy. I would recommend getting a SSD to install your OS to though either way.

I cant do anything like, i have installed windows 7 ultimate x64 at the moment.

When it freezes, it freezes so much that the mouse wont move, CTRL ALT DEL wont work and there is no way to bring up a task manager or anything

i have run alot of differnt tests on this to stress test it and it never froze in that, e.g. prime95 aida64 etc

and the games im playing are not particularly taxing.... team fortress 2

my old pc plays this without an issue, a 10year old amd dual core 4200, dfi lanparty rdx200 mobo,  3gb of ram and 2tb hdd with a radeon x1950 256mb graphics card

its got me stumped.
