disk management error

I've been trying to wipe this old drive of mine but when i go to disk management, it hangs on "Connecting to Virtual Disk service". I've tried almost everything, even looking in service.msc and seeing if Virtual Disk is on which it is and it is also set to manual. Any help?

it ended up working. for some reason it took around 10 minutes for it to load im not sure why but it finally did and im formatting the drive now. thanks for the help anyways
