AIO Cooler Thermal Paste

Hi All,

 

I've bought a Corsair H45 AIO cooler to go into a new build. The water block appears to have thermal paste already applied on the base in a grid. 

 

Should I also apply a pea of Arctic Silver to the CPU?

Should I remove the pre-applied paste?

A general rule i stick to is to remove the pre-applied thermal paste and use my own. If you want, just remove the pre-applied one and use your Arctic Silver since it will probably be better.

No, too much paste isnt good.

Not worth the effort imo. The arctic silver might shave off a degree or 2 but the pre-applied stuff is good enough.

There is no need; just use the thermal paste that is already pre-applied on the Corsair H45.

Whenever you remove / re-mount the CPU block, then clean off the thermal paste on both contact surfaces, and apply a new amount (e.g. pea of AS5 on the CPU).

 

You only need to apply thermal paste on one of the surfaces, NOT both. Otherwise it will be too much.
