Were getting really close to the surface phone launching.  I suspect microsoft is taking their dear sweet time.    What do you guys say for a prediction thread, and we revisit it when it launches?

my bet...

First, that Microsoft is taking their time for the following reasons:

They are working on a very good android emulator. (and maybe even an apple one.. wouldn't that be funny)

They are working with Intel on mobile GPU solutions.

My guess about the phones features/hardware.

#1, continuum will be much closer to a true desktop experience,

#2, the phone will have "iris mobile" graphics. which will be a trimmed down version of iris pro (no need to push 4k on a 5.7" screen)

#3,  the CPU will be the closest yet to a a desktop processor in any phone (in regards to computer capability, and again, they are waiting on intel.)

and

#4... my boldest prediction... the phone will have thunderbolt 3 capability and compatible with external GPU. most likely this will be a seperate Microsoft device as well with provisions for peripherals and Ethernet..

EDIT!!... one more.... it will come with a stylus! :D

crysis 3 at 70fps from your phone ..... lol

so that's my guess.. an intel phone with windows 10.

what you think?

while were at it.. who wants to guess on lanch date?  i guess  June.....definetely before the #REALnote7   haha

i doubt it will have external gpu support, maybe more like the NX switch that it overclocks itself when docked or something. an external gpu just doesn't make sense for this product which is highly aimed at the business and productivity market and not the general consumer. what i predict is that it will incorporate something extremely proprietary so its interesting to use with surface tablets/books/studio. when they do that their end user ecosystem is closed, next step will be releasing routers/networking infrastructure but i doubt they will do that.

i dont think they are going to target that small of a market share buy pushing it mostly to businesses... but.. external gpu support also includes quadro, so... you never know!  ( i also dont think just an over clocking switch would be disruptive enough)

the most important thing is going to be how close they get it to windows 10 desktop OS... if you can  install a desktop program... all of the above will happen. they said in the beginning they wanted windows 10 to work in that manner.

Didn't even know there was gonna be a surface phone. Interesting... External GPU support seems interesting and I would love if Microsoft broke into the phone space(windows phone doesn't count). I wish they would just put android on it...I mean, Blackberry even did it. Although, continuum is interesting, but I don't really see myself plugging in my phone to a monitor. Just excited, i guess!

Hope this helps...

I honestly dont think its going to happen, even though I would like ms to get off their asses and make windows 10 what it should be.

as a windows phone user, it doesnt matter what they do if they cant keep the damn things working correctly. and a Surface phone will probably be a close resemblance to the lumia 1520 but call it a Surface, since Nokia is making new Android phones Microsoft will most likely try to no use any resemblance they got from Nokia

they already mainly Target businesses. the whole Windows 10 integration and docking is mainly interesting for businesses. imagine werking from your phone and being able to sit down at anyones desks and having your whole computer with you, this is exactly what my local Government has been doing by making a deal with Microsoft. whether they like it or not most of their features are business orientated rather than consumer orientated. why would i buy a phone that can dock if i only have one workplace? its not a cheap piece of Tech that i would set up in multiple places since you also need monitor keyboard etc there. that whole feature looks incredibly business orientated.
