HDD & Shadowplay

Stickeric

I have question about the shadowplay feature from nvidia where you can record the last # ammount of minutes to saved.

How does this affect your HDD lifespan when you let shaduw modus on (You able to save up to 10 minutes of previous game time) if anybody gets what I mean.

A review I watched said that it goes easy on your HDD because it transfers 15mbit/s as opposed to DXtory that transfers 80mbit/s. Not sure if this helped because I am not skilled in storage devices by any strategy of imagination.

I would presume its lighter than any software based recording.

I lost 4 FPS on ultra in bf3.  Shadowplay rocks.

Everything effects your HDD lifespan, SSD too, but I wouldn't worry.  The whole beauty behind Shadowplay is the on the fly compression, so think of it as like a YouTube just being sent to your HDD, its a pretty small file.  Computer parts can take a lot more than most people think, performance wise.

Did you have it on High quality 1080P ?

And what GPU do you have?

I play on the Geforce Experiences recommended settings (Basically Ultra) on my windforce gtx 770. (Sorry, should've specified - also, it was BF3, not 4.)

And what were your total FPS? recording quality on High? If this is the case I am amazed! Really looking forward to what we can do with this.

I notice almost no strain on anything with shadowplay, basically like it's recording with 0 toll on any of the hardware.

I'll post up a bit more info in a little on the matter.

Also, its great overall, but there seem to be some encoding issues, but it is just a beta. ( see 0:45 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9MSsoh1aDo )
