SSD to SSD Transfer Process?

Greetings,

I have an SSD that is nearly full. I purchased a new SSD to replace the full one. I wish to transfer (not copy) all of my files to the new SSD, so that the new SSD may then become the main SSD, and the old SSD may become an empty overflow SSD.

I have two inquiries:

1. Is the process truly as simple as dragging the files from the old SSD to the new SSD, and then deleting the files on the old SSD once they are transferred safely? Or, is the process in need of a certain program to do so?

2. Is it acceptable to have an SSD in your case just lying around without a sled?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank You,

-Will
