So I'm prepping my wishlist for Christmas and I'm wondering which part of my system to upgrade: my CPU or my GPU. I heard that my CPU is a bit of a bottleneck but I'm looking for pure fps. my CPU is an AMD FX-6300 and my YOU is GTX 750ti. I have no idea what I would upgrade the CPU to but I plan on getting the MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti as a GPU replacement. I would also get a new psu for it. I want to stay at or below 200 USD but a little more can do. So which should I upgrade? And if I should upgrade the CPU, what should I upgrade it to? I don't want to get a new motherboard, so please don't suggest one with a different socket than AM3+. Thanks for the help

750ti is still a decent card for 1080p low-med settings but that but there really isn't much point throw money into a new am3+ cpu as let's face it there all pretty trash. I'd go with a rx480 4gb if you can stretch the budget and get a kabylake i3 or i5 later in the year or zen.

Main system:

i7 6700k @4.8ghz 1.45v

ROG Maximus Hero VIII

Gigabyte G1 980ti Sli @1500 ghz

Samsung 950 pro 512gb

16gb G.Skill Ripjawz V @3400mhz

Corsair H115i 280mm AIO

Corsair 400c Case

Corsair RM1000i

Backup/Older/Toys:

Intel i3 6100 @4.6ghz 1.52v

Asrock B150M Pro4/Hyper

Intel 750 series 400gb

Radeon Rx 470 XFX

Thermaltake Water 3.0 360mm AIO

inWin 303 case

AMD Phenom II x4 940 @3.9ghz 1.65v

Gigabyte 780g mobo

Corsair H100 240mm AIO

Corsair Dominiator 8gb DDR2 @1066

Evga GTX 750ti FTW @1450mhz

Thermaltake Matrix case (modded)

Can't really stretch beyond like $230 since I'm asking for money this Christmas and I want to be able to upgrade soon. So does this mean I just go with the 1050ti I found and new psu?

I guess so then yea. 470 out of your price range too? It supports crossfire which then if you wanted to in future to do you can which for me is a big bonus. 1050ti cant sli. Regardless 1050ti would do the job. Personaly I wouldnt upgrade my 750ti to a 1050ti for the farly small gain 10-20fps your going to get, but if its free then why not?
