My friend's starting a build, want to check if all the parts are compatible before going ahead with the purchase.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2znJm8

Any components that should be swapped out?

Also, I wanted to know, is it worth getting the 6400 core over the 6500 one?

On paper it's a huge increase from 2.7Ghz to 3.2Ghz, how much difference does this even make?

Thanks!

Edit:

Gonna be gaming at 1080p, hence the monitor

Not so much of triple A titles and more of mobas

970 because my friend got one as a gift.

Why a GTX 970, get a GTX 1070 instead.

No 970 rx480 or 1060 is much better. Or with that priceframe go with a 1070.

Unsure what power supply to pick?

Check out my HTPC build.

oh, forgot to mention, my friend already has a 970 as a gift, which was the reason for starting this entire build.

Oh okay.

You mind if I fix up your build a bit, whats the budget?

yeah sure thing! Was planning for around 1k++, since the graphics card had already been settled.

Going to be used for gaming, less so on the triple A titles and more on the mobas

Hey thanks a lot!

I think I'll swap out those parts for the ones you recommended.

As for the screen I'll just get her to pick out something else at a lower price range than the one she initially chose then haha

Anyway just a quick and random side question, any chance of throwing a Noctua D15 cooler in that case?

Um I think it may be possible. Just check on the websites and see the height of the cooler and see how the case can fit it.

oh alright!

btw, would you happen to know how much of an impact having an i5 6500 3.2Ghz over a 5400 at 2.7Ghz?

still quite curious to know how the different clockspeeds can affect performance
