it's just a rig for my son. he mainly plays steam and indie games. nothing really demanding...

i just got the cpu/ mobo on a crazy good deal

The PSU is not going to be good enough.

 

Get a Corsair CX550M, it is very cheap at $30USD currently on promotion (use promo code "EMCFFGH23"), and it is a great PSU.

He means that it's kind of a fire hazard. It probably will slowly die from the day you turn it on. Not ideal. A Corsair CX450M is a much better option for you for the long term.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
