Sup guys,

Was just wondering about something. So, remember when some of EVGA's GPUs began to cause major issues due to the VRM or whatever it was causing them to 'explode', yeah? Is that still an issue or no longer? Have EVGA officially fixed this issue and have proved that they are safe to buy and use?

The reason I ask is because I'm thinking of getting an EVGA GTX 1070 (http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/Tv38TW/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-sc-gaming-acx-30-video-card-08g-p4-6173-kr) and was wondering what type of FPS I'd get for 1440p / 4k especially (4k because I hear 1070s can handle 4k!).

Thanks

~Xiauj ^_^

I don't think it's an issue anymore. if their graphics cards explode on you, just RMA it or sue EVGA lol, assuming you aren't dead

All cards shipped after November 1st have the thermal pad and fan-curve fixes. The only thing to watch out for is getting old stock from a company, that was sent out prior to November 1st.

If you get one, you can check the card and tell right away if the thermal pad fixes are in place.

The issue has been fixed and all 1070s ship with thermal pads on the VRMs now. If yours ships with none, contact EVGA and they should give some to you for free.

As for it driving 4K, it will but don't expect to run badly optimized games at max settings :P

Oh cool! :D

For the 4k GTX 1070 stuff Energycore, do you perhaps know of a website that lists a bunch of games, the specific GPU and like, how much FPS it got with what settings? I don't know of any but would love to have a look at some results :P

Echoing what everyone else said, the VRM is not an issue.  Gamers Nexus did an extremely thorough investigation, and released a final video on it today:

Aaah I see, thank you very much for that video ^_^

I won't be ordering the GPU just yet, probably around Christmas time so hopefully all goes well!! :P

No problem!  By Christmas time I imagine even all the stock that was on shelves at 3rd party retailers will have been swapped out for cards with additional thermal pads.  I would still contact the store (Like Newegg or whoever you end up buying from) to be sure, but EVGA has the best customer service out of just about every company I've ever dealt with, so if for some reason something isn't quite right with your card, they'll definitely fix it.
