Are the sales likely to better during the Autumn Sale currently going on, or the Winter Sale? Thanks.

What I can tell you is that they won't be worse since winter and summer sales have the lowest prices of them all. I can see that many games don't have the max discounts that we used to saw in prior sales, but few (like Doom) have hit their new low. If you're not in a hurry to play that specific game, wait for holiday sale, at least you won't get higher prices that they currently are, they might just go down.
