Powering cycling when problem solving a new build:

Appologies if this has been answered before, but I can't find a definitive answer. When you have a problem with your PC and you have to perform a hard shutdown by holding the power switch..do you have to wait a certain amount of time before you turn the PC back on? Someone told me wait 30 seconds. I have literally turned it off and on before the fans stop spinning many times already. Can rapidly turning the PC on and off damage any components? Is this still an issue or can you just shutdown and startup as you wish? I have seen when some people are stuck in a power cycle problem (not my issue) the PC starts up, turns off completely then turns back on in about 5 seconds. So, I wonder if this is a safe amount of time as the PC does this when stuck in an endless boot loop.

Thanks for the info, if anyone knows the answer!

Thanks for the reply,

I heard the R/W heads instantly snap into position on hard shutdown. I have heard many opinions saying different things. I guessed the PSU is clever enough to tell the motherboard when it is safe to start the PC. I have an SSD anyway. More worried about the mobo, cpu, gfx really. You have a lot of the same specs I do. Nice case...Is it massive? I was thinking of getting an NZXT. Maybe the s340 elite.

Cheers for the reply anyway!

You can turn it back on as soon as you want. The PC will only turn on after the power button has been pressed if it's ready. Sometimes it might take a second or two after pressing the power button for anything to happen.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
