I was just thinking about A.I for some reason and I got to thinking that it could be possible for someone to deploy A.I on the web and have it join online communities and communicate with real people to monitor how well it can act like a human. I know this is already done with spam bots but I mean something that seems really genuine and behaves like a human with it's own set of beliefs.

 

How would you guys feel if you made a good friend right here on LTT and find out they've just been a program the whole time?

It would not bother me.  I would be giddy with positive enthusiasm actually; bewilderment and humility possibly.  The time of the sacs of water is possibly ending.

We'd have to have an AI that can do that first, though. The Turing Test is a thing.

I'd personally be very... Interested.
