I have an MSI GTX 660ti PE and just updated to 314.07 from 310.90 and am having issues with multiple games. The new Tomb Raider just stops unexpectedly and reports an error with the driver. Diablo 3 will lock up and go black screen for a few seconds then drop my 120fps vsync on my 120Hz monitor to 23 fps. I'm currently going back to the 310.90 to see if this issue is resolved and was wondering if anyone else had this issue.

Edit: Forgot to mention that when I updated to 314.07 I did a clean install, removing the previous driver before installing the new one.

Tomb raider has serious issues with the latest set of nvidia drivers. apparently running the game in Ultra and with Tress FX on causes the crashing (roughly every 10 minutes or so). turn down your settings and you'll be able to play. Nvidia is aware of the issue and it'll probably get updated with the next beta release.

I was having the same problem with Tomb Raider driver 314.07. I am having Evga 2 x GTX 680 SLI SC, when i try to run the game in ultra it works for 30 mins max. I tried re installing driver but no luck. Then i scaled down the settings to normal, and the game runs smoothly non stop

i guess nvidia will fix the same in there upcoming driver 314.14

Also disabled testallation.. everything is fine. I have played it 3 hours non stop no issues

I just rolled back to the 306.23 version driver for my 660ti and am still having issues. No matter what it will give me a black screen, then come back and have dropped my frame rate to 30fps or less (from over 150+ fps in D3) show through msi afterburner that 99% of my GPU is being used and the temps climb over 60*C which never happens.

I've used Nvidia driver versions: 306.23, 306.97, 3010.54, 310.61, 310.64, 310.90, 314.07, and 314.21.

I've uninstalled them fully each time before installing the other versions, so clean installs. When I use the GUI on the nvidia driver that allows you to select "clean install" my screen always goes black and won't come back till I restart. I've gone through control panel and uninstalled the drivers from then on prior to installing other versions.

I've uninstalled, and updated MSI Afterburner to see if there was an issue with that but nothing changed. I've gone through and made sure I didn't have a virus by scanning in safe mode for spyware/viruses/malware and came up with nothing. I got so annoyed that I reformatted my SSD with a clean install of Windows 7 and still have the issue after going through the listed driver versions again.

Is there anyone who can suggest I do anything else before I unplug everything that's not required for my computer to work and start diagnosing it that way? Help plz!

I've never overclocked the card and it's a stock clock version so no voltage adjustments or anything. I just purchased it in August of 2012. I can't even play for 5 minutes anymore without it erroring out on me and it's even faster than that if I have Vsync enabled.

EDIT: I'm also getting blue artifacting in game. I'm hearing that could mean an issue with my VRAM...?

try removing and re-seating the graphics card into the pcie slot.

try installing in a different pcie slot.

try upping the voltage on the card a bit.

check if any parts of the card's pcb feels hot to the touch while gaming.

try turning the motherboard pcie slot setting to 2.0 instead of 3.0 (if applicable)

and after all that try in a different system if possible.

other than that try RMA I guess.

EDIT:

somebody here had luck with uninstalling the old drivers via control panel, using CCleaner on temp folder, reinstalling older drivers, then doing a clean install of the beta drivers through the installer

And in case anyone asks, yes I always do a clean driver uninstall and reinstall every time. You know the method: Uninstall all traces of NVIDIA drivers and software via the control panel, restarting each time you uninstall the HDMI Audio Drivers, then the Graphics drivers, then restating in Safe Mode after uninstalling everything and use DriverSweeper to clean out the registry remnants. As an additional step, I also use CCleaner to clean out whatever DriverSweeper left behind. I also clean out my Temp folders from my "Appdata/Local/Temp"* directory as well as from the "C:/Windows/Temp"* directory. Lastly, I use Windows's Disk Cleanup tool to clean out any dump files or miscellaneous stuff I couldn't reach. I restart my system normally, disable all of my Anti-Virus's features after I booted up, and then proceed to install the new NVIDIA drivers as usual.

I did all of that when I installed the 314.07 WHQL drivers again, all to no avail. My FPS was still struggling for some mysterious reason. So in the end, I said "Screw this!", uninstalled the 314.07 WHQL drivers, and reinstalled the latest 314.21 BETA drivers all over again and lived with it...

But after cleanly reinstalling the new BETA drivers, I ran the game's benchmark one more time not expecting much...and NOW IT WORKS PROPERLY! Not only that, but my game received a very nice FPS boost. According to the benchmark, Tomb Raider now runs at ~80FPS average, a +20 FPS increase from the previous drivers with TressFX enabled!

though they never had the blue artifacting so mayor may not help you.
