I have a Razer Ouroboros mouse and on Windows quite often the DPI gradually increases one setting after setting until it reaches the max setting. Drives me insane. Sometimes it doesn't happen while my computer is on but once it starts, it doesn't stop.

Question is, could this be as a result of a malware on the mouse itself? I suggest this because I had a similar malware over a year ago on my desktop. It was on Windows 8.1 and the symptoms were that the window I was on was unclicking once every few seconds. Took me weeks to realise it was a result of malware and took me months to get rid of it.

In the end, I had to result to backing up my decrypted hard drives' files by mounting it in Linux and cleaning the crap out of it one folder at a time. Long story short, it wasn't getting detected by ANY advanced AV software, even Malwarebytes. I think "Avast for Linux!" detected it in a hidden 'deleted' folder which is only viewable in Linux, though that might have been a false positive. I thought backing up my files up elsewhere and formatting the drive got rid of it (I thought maybe the integrity of the encrypted container was compromised ie. it made use of some kind of bug to permanently attach itself inside the container). I thought it was wiped.

Haven't experienced the same problem since but now this problem with my mouse makes me wonder whether I have infected firmware and it was dormant this whole time. And whether it is acting differently because of it being on a different OS.
