1080 sli

 are there lots of problems with having sli 1080s or will it be limited to just a few games? will most games support the sli or how well does it work?

Most games have little to no sli support. Some AAA titles will support it, others won't. Unless you really have money burning in your pocket, I wouldn't do it.

Id do it, I always sli. Cant  do it now as my old stuff can barely handle 2 of the 4 games Ive been playing. a 4790k isn't cutting but from what people are sayin it must be an issue only I'm dealing with.

so should i go for just 1 1080 and buy a better display instead of another gpu?

With your CPU, you should be going for 1 1080 MAX. Even then you will see slight limitations. If you want to SLI 1080s you need to upgrade your CPU and Power Supply.

No issues with 1080 SLI here. Some more obscure or indie games won't have support, but nearly all the bigger games do. You'll be fine.

 

Don't fall for all the BS that people spout about games not being supported or tons of bugs. It's a pretty great overall experience, with only some titles having no support.

i will get a 6700k, how much W do i need? will a evga g2 750w be enough?

850w should give you more breathing room

I absolutely agree with this.  Most of the anti-SLI garbage that is posted is completely over exaggerated or an example of someone echoing what they heard from their sister's boyfriend's cousin who used to run SLI 10 years ago.  SLI works well in just about any game that I'd actually play.

With that said, give the 1080 SLI a spin with your current CPU before you upgrade to a 6700k or something like that.  The higher you climb in resolution, the less your GPUs depend on your CPU.  Will you still benefit from a 6700k at 4k, sure, but not nearly as much as you would have if you were only running 1080p.

if im going with the 1080s i need to get a new MB since mine doesnt support sli so i might aswell just get i7-6700k and sell my old mb and processor for a couple of bucks

No brainer then.  Enjoy the new setup.  

 

I like my 1080 SLI / 5960x setup a lot and for general everyday use, I'd enjoy a 1080 SLI / 6700k setup just as much.

all i can say is R.I.P my wallet  i hope my setup will last a couple of years
