I have 2 laptops. One has an SSD and other has an HDD (my main one). I would like to switch them but without removing the data from either of them. I would like to switch the data.. So the SSD data goes to HDD and HDD data to SSD. How can I do this? Are there any popular working methods?

Mirror the drives, get a 3rd and 4th drives mirror 1 on the 3 and 2 on the 4. Finally you mirror 3 on the 2 and 4 on the 1 and da da.

Highly recommended to do a fresh windows install if you are going from SSD to HDD. You will also definitely need a 3rd hard drive with enough space to store the important DATA (not programs) from the drives while you are re-installing.

When in doubt, re-format.

This is exactly what I'm avoiding. Is there really no other way.

Well you will NEED a third drive in order to shuffle data between them. You can use cloning software to do this such as CloneZilla (a bit advanced) or something like Acronis in order to not have to do a clean reinstall of windows. There are tons of tools out there to help you do this, but if you are already going to be re-imaging the drives, a clean install makes sense to do.

When in doubt, re-format.
