GTX 1080 FTW Problem

Hey guys, I am a bit scared now 

 

I own a GTX 1080 FTW by EVGA. 

my computer freezes then it will not turn on for a few minutes. 

The GPU fan goes to 100percent spin and the CPU cooler stays at 0 and does not spin. THE COMPUTER WILL NOT POST and the display will be BLACK, no signal. 

This has happened twice already. 

 

PS, I recently upgraded all the parts besides the SSD with windows and the PSU. 

 

I7 6700K no OC

Asrock Extreme 6+

Sadly I forgot what it's about and I'm not able to readily find it and link it.

I don't know if it's related, but are you aware of the EVGA overheating issue? It affects all EVGA ACX3.0 cards shipped before November 1st, and can cause black screens and sudden / worsening artifacting. The FTWs seem to be affected by it a bit more than the SC and ACX3 vanilla.

 

EVGA has released an updated BIOS, and also is offering a free thermal pad mod to all owners of ACX3.0 cards. If you aren't comfortable with installing the thermal pads yourself, you can do an advanced-RMA to EVGA, and they will send you another GPU with the BIOS and thermal pad mod already installed, and you send your FTW in to EVGA.

Is this really my GPU`s problem?? sometimes my application starts up sooo slow and after playing games and afk for 5 minutes, my computer requires a restart as it wont start anything and just freezes up but still able to do ALT + CTRL + DEL

It sounds like it is the same issue as the one that you're experiencing: GTX 1080 FTW - Black screen & fans spin up to 100%
