I would recommend water cooling. If you're putting all this money into a good unlocked CPU and GPU, I would be sure to have a decent liquid cooler so I can overclock to the fullest potential - I know it's your first build but it wasn't long before I decided to overclock after my first build.

That simply relies upon how intensely you expect to overclock.

- If you don't overclock, you could just use the stock cooler or a small air cooler such as a Hyper 101i

- if you plan to do a "normal" overclock - the sort of OC that you can get by just clicking on "OC my ride" in the BIOS - an air cooler such as a Hyper 212 or a basic 120mm AIO would do

- it's only if you plan to do an extreme overclock that you need to get into a 240/280mm AIO or a custom water loop.

For your 1st PC build I would suggest you only do a "normal" overclock (if any)

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD
