First gaming Rig

ffdd4846

Hey guys, I'm looking to build my first gaming rig for crysis 3 and I figured I would do it right and find a list of parts that would be still be capable of games 3/4 years from now. This is the list I have put together for around 1300$

Any thoughts on compatibility or better parts?

NZXT Phantom 410

WD Green storage drive, 500 gb.

60 gb Other World Computing SSD for OS.

Silverstone 850 Watt power supply

Now I have worked on computers in the past but I have never over clocked one:

Can this memory be overlooked?

Corsair H100i

This is what i have put together so far. Computability or "future proofing" thoughts?

Thanks Guys!

First off your PSU is way too overkill. There is the same model for 600-watts. For the RAM I would suggest a 2x8gb set instead of a 4x4gb set because it leaves more room for more ram. With those little down grades you can get the GTX 670.

Is that build future proof in terms of hardware? Nope. Does it really need to be? Not really - your parts won't one day turn around and say they can't perform a task anymore.

Aside from what Socky pointed out, I'd look at bigger storage options especially for the SSD - you'll be surprised how quickly you can fill that up.

Agreed with Socky windspeed36. However the higher Memory Bit of a GTX 670 isn't really worth the £70 extra it is, which is what, $120? However if you literally will only be gaming then you should downgrade some of the other things and get a GTX 680, For example switch to a i3-3225/3330 and a Hyper 212 Evo instead of a H100i, as gaming is mainly reliant on the GPU.

It's impossible to "Future proof" a PC, as Technology advances every what.. 3-6 Months? However I can't see games becoming that much more demanding that a 660Ti wouldn't be able to handle games on high quality and maintain smooth FPS, drop down to a Seasonic 520/620W or a TX 650W PSU.

Apart from that.. Not bad :)
