as the title says my front panel audio is not working and is not detected. i have checked and rechecked the connection to my mobo and it is firmly set in the socket. i have the newest driver installed from MSI's website (its the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver version 6.0.1.7037 right?). when i go to playback devices there is not headset icon, but when i roll back the driver to the previous version the icon appears, but still doesn't work.

is there something im missing?

ps. contacting MSI has proved pointless

If you have a soundcard, your BIOS might be automatically disabling onboard.

Does your mother board support both types of front audio? there are two standards, AC97 and HD audio, if your case has the HD audio pinout and it is pluged into an AC97 header it won't work. and vice versa

check your mother board manual to see what it supports and check the manual for the case to see what it is.

EDIAT: they'll be online if you done have a hard copy anymore.

wow, niether company tells us what the standard is they have used.  Really helpful MSI/Corsair

Does the audio connector from the case front have a name on it, sometimes they are labelled either HD audio or AC 97, that will at least tell you what the case standard is.  As for the mobo I am at a loss. Sorry
