It could be done slightly cheaper, but I've gone for parts I know, haven't skimped on a terrible PSU, and opted for a wireless capable MB.

I'm looking to build a pc for my friend who is a HUGE skyrim fan. His current pc is NOT gaming ready. He currently plays it on PS4 . He has played on my full mod version and loves it. What would be the most cost effective way to get great playability for a mod version of skyrim ? I'm not sure due to mine being overkill where the sweet spot is.

1080p 16:9 screen, 8GB Ram, RTG RX 470, Intel i3-6100 or i5-6500 on a cheap 1151 socket MB.

Short of that, what are the specs of his current system? A GPU update might do it.

Current is an old eMachines pc. Like 4 gig ram 1.8 ghz celeron . Like I said NOT gaming at all. I have an old 1080 60hz monitor to give him (currently on an old 4:3) I'm doing this as a birthday gift . He has said multiple times how much he would live to go with pc gaming but vast afford a new pc. So figure I'll build him one. I'm just not sure of skyrim (his main game by far. I think he's on his like 6th play through ) how many cores does it use? How much vram for modded ? Which drivers are best nvidia or amd for skyrim ? I know problem is it's on dx9

I'd see if you can use PCPP and build around an i3-6100, 1050 Ti, with 8GB of 2800Mhz RAM.

That works and gives him the advantage of the SSD as well. Won't be needing the CM Hyper 212 though, you won't be OCing the 6100 and it comes with a stock cooler that's fine. It's a 35W package.

I'm not overly familiar with B150 chips, you might just want to double check compatibility.

Don't get a CPU cooler and buy an MX300 275GB instead.

I've personally never had the greatest luck when it comes to crucial . But it's been a while I'll give them another shot.

And I was thinking cooler just to be quieter .

I would go with the PURE ROCK, then.

Mind if I ask what drive you used before?

The BX100 or BX200? Yea, the budget lines are pretty bad.

Bx100 seams right. It was like 2013ish. First showed up DOA . Had great tech support sent out another but 2nd died after like 6-8 months . Just put a sour taste . But like I said I'll try again.

I've never done a B150 build myself. But looking at it looks better then H110 (I have done those) but not quite H170 (I have done 1 H170) the H110 uses PCI-E gen 2.0 and only 14 PCI-E lanes where as B110 uses PCI-E gen 3.0 and 18 PCI-E lanes. The I3 6100 supports 16 PCI-E lanes as does the gtx 1050ti. But other then that what specific compatability are you speaking of?
