4690k or 4790k For new build

I have the money to buy the 4790k but I'm wondering if it is better to just get the 4690k and have some money left over for other things. (This is just an upgrade to the current computer I have)

I only use my computer for gaming and the internet.

New build

Asus Strix ROG 1070

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 7

EVGA SuperNOVA 650 Watt 80+ Gold Modular ATX 12V Power Supply

Hyper 212 EVO

Already have

120GB SSD with Windows 10

1 TB WD Black

8GB corsair vengeance RAM DDR-3

NZXT h440

I'd get a i5-6600K with the new platform and RAM instead. Also a better cooler than the EVO which is decidedly meh. The Raijintek Ereboss is much better and costs $35.

Also that EVGA PSU is probably the Supernova NEX one, don't get it. It's quite bad for its price. Try the GS, GQ, or G2 from EVGA, or cheaper options include the M12II from Seasonic, or the TS Gold from XFX.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I would recommend going skylake, either 6600k or 6700k, but 6600k is probably fine for your needs and budget. Cryorig H7 is also a better cooler than the 212 and not much more expensive. Also, if you only have a 60hz 1080p panel, you don't need a 1070 or 6600k... you could save alot of money by spending less on those components (going with a6400, 6500, or 6600 and a 1060 6GB/RX480 4GB)

Cool :)

Well, a lot of the PSUs I can see in their web store are refurbished, and I don't know whether to trust them on refurbs, so I'll include one that's a fine deal there, and one on newegg.

Yea i've been looking around at the differences in games and other applications and it seems that the i7 is just the better way to go.
