I overclocked my i7 4770K to 4.6GHz and there were no problems at 1.25V when running the AIDA64 stress test for 30mins. So I set the cache ratio to 44 and turned on adaptive mode.

Then I stress-tested again. After like 10mins the screen became black for a few seconds (you could still see the mouse) and went away again a few times. After a minute everything was ok again. But 10mins later the same thing happend. Another 10mins again. I checked the voltage and temperatures and AIDA64 told me the temperature was at 90 degrees and the voltage was at 1.307V, although I had set it to a max. of 1.25V.

What's wrong there?

Oh yeah, and, and set cache ratio back to auto and the black screens didn't appear again. What's that actually for?

Thanks for your help!

If needed, my components:

- i7 4770K

- GTX 770

- Asus Z87-A

- Noctua NH-D14

Probably this is a bug in AIDA or  MAYBE(!) in your BIOS/UEFI.

Do you have dual BIOS? If yes, its relatively save to update your bios

But I also had some Bugs with AIDA

My OC Programms are:

CPU Z

Cpuid HW Monitor

Intel XTU/AMD Overdrive

Fan Speed

(And of corse the BIOS…)

Try out those!

And please set the cache ratio to auto! (then its always the same as your multiplier)

playing with the cache ratio does not improve your OCs much.
