My pc is very old (and i'm talking like geforce 210 old) and I thought about upgrade. this time around, I wanted to build it myself; so you probbably understand, this is my first pc build. Tell me what you think, suggestions for better parts, or anything that can really improve my build. everything i listed below is open for changes, and not final. if there are places that can save money, or to get a better value, that will be helpful as well. thanks in advance.

here are the specifications(again,not final):*

2. G.skill Ripjaws V series 16gb (2x8gb) ddr4 3000- $94.99

3. Core i5 6600K unlocked- $236.99 (I can also go 6500. I am not gonna overclock for now, but i want the possibility to do so in the future. help me choose)

That build looks really good! I personally would use the 212 EVO as it is a really solid cooler. The MSI 1060 Gaming is a pretty good card, but you can probably find cheaper options if you are on a tight budget. I would also go with an EVGA PSU, just because they offer a fantastic warranty.

Looks like a pretty decent build. I do wonder about your choice of monitor though. if you're using only a 60 hz panel you don't need to overclock or get Z series boards which could save you money (could do something like an i5 6400/6500 and a cheap H110/B150 board depending on your needs). Other than that, looks fine. the H7 performs slightly better, slightly quieter, is more compatible with most systems (shorter and smaller footprint that doesn't overhang RAM) and much better looking than the 212.... but the 212 is cheaper... so either are good. Case selection is largely aesthetics... just pick whichever you like the look of best (unless you need something specific like drive bays, radiator support, and so on). as far as PSU's go, it depends on your budget, and what you need your system to do, but the EVGA G2 series, and the Corsair RMx series are pretty great units. Corsair CX450M is also a good investment in a build like this because its adequate quality (although not as high as the G2 or RMx) and excellent affordability.

But if you just bought that part list as is, it should be pretty awesome computer to have... so definitely did your research, good job =)

If you are going with Z170 motherboard, get i5 6600k.

But if you buy locked CPU, there is no point in spending more money for motherboard.

I think your build looks just fine as it is with i5 6600k

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

Get the Sandisk Ultra 2 for the SSD, it's almost as fast as the 850 evo but frankly the difference is so minimal you won't see the difference unless you write a lot on a regular basis though do bear in mind that that the 850 evo still is the most reliable one but you save roughly 1/3 of your money going with Sandisk so I would say it's worth the trade-off

I dont plan on playing the most high-end games, though I might want to in the future. my monitor is pretty old, and I THINK that its 60 hz. i still wanna go z170, it serves my needs well.

i am also going for black and red kind of theme so thats why i chose msi in the first place.

all 1060's (and pretty much any other pascal card) all perform pretty closely together. if you apply your own overclocks to them. The only real major difference between certain ones would be features like a factory overclock, which you may want to invest in one a little more expensive in order to get a card that comes with said overclock on it. Silicon lottery is going to affect your cards performance much more than card/brand selection will. If aesthetics are important to you, then getting that MSI card is as good as an investment as any.
