Your board only support DDR3 so I would go with the second option Do you need 16GB in total or 16+8 in total? I don't think it works with 8+16. 

Grab a second stick of 8GB DDR3 and should be fine

i am using the motherboard i named in the title and i need to upgrade my ram ( currently using 8gb 799Mhz ddr3) and was opting to get the corsair vengance lpx 16gb DDR4 , but im not sure if my board will support it.
