Good gaming pc for $2000

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

I do like the 290x better but the reference card already cost more than a non reference 780 so you would think that the non reference would be more expensive so I think that the two non reference 780 is better

I'm pretty sure a non reference 290x will oc better and outperform a reference 780. I'd recommend waiting for the aftermarket 290x's to come out.

Besides, you're buying in december/january. Plan later. Things will be quite different by then.

Get a good quality power supply. By the way where are you thinking of purchasing your components from?

He meant to ask whether you have a store preference. Also, does this include peripherals and OS?

Do you need a copy of Windows? Peripherals? Or just the tower?

@ThatGuy1602 You need to quote a post or tag a member or else they won't get a notification you replied to them.

Edit: Alright--you seem to have posted the same time I posted this --haha

Is the system just for gaming?

What kind of upgradability? If you are planning on SLI in the future, that isn't enough.

And also do you think a gtx 780 is enough for 5760x1080 gaming at high res?

If you're going for 3*1080p gaming, a 290X will be a better choice (better pixel fill rate).

Depends what frames you want, and the games you play. For most use cases yes it will be fine.

@nishank93 I know but I can't find any specific prices on the 290x yet and also I heard about the 780ti not being that much more expensive than a regular 780 and I will be buying this pc at around december to january

On PCCaseGear, the 290X+BF4 bundle was on sale for 699AUD. I can't say much about the 780Ti, but if an aftermarket 290X is available during the holidays and a 780 is not cheaper, I'd get a 290X.

Desktop: Intel Core i7-5820K, Corsair H115i, Asus X99-Deluxe/USB 3.1, G.Skill Ripjaws4 32GB 2800MHz CL16, Zotac RTX 3070, Samsung 950 Pro 512GB in Angelbird Wings PX1, Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, 5*Seagate 12TB, Cooler Master V1200, Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, Windows 10 Pro. @nishank93 ok thanks for the info I will consider the 290x and do you think that I should get windows 7 or 8 or 8.1

Definitely 8 or 8.1 Pro. I'm on 8.1 Pro right now, and I have no issues at all. It is faster than Windows 7 both in general use, and in most games. And if you've heard of the mouse acceleration issues in some games with 8.1, there are ghetto fixes available, and MS will (hopefully) fix it soon.

You can get rid of StartScreen pretty easily if you don't like that interface. There really isn't much point choosing Windows 7 with a brand new system.
