Messaging Applications/Organization

What messaging application? I've heard mixed things about Samsung's stock messaging, Google Messenger, and Verizon's messaging application. Which should I go with, and why? I personally have only used Samsung's stock and Verizon's messaging application. Not great with applications, so I'll take any advice I can get.

 

Also, I have another question. I'm going to try and organize my applications better this time around, what categories should I put them into?

Allo is supposed to be pretty decent, albeit not very privacy-secure.
