Hi i am currently thinking about upgrading my graphics card from a GTX 950 to the new GTX 1080/70

but my problem is that i dont really understand the CPU-GPU ratio
that most people say that some cpu's dont work as good as some GPU's

also if theres a way to quickly post my computer spec that would be nice

GTX 1070/1080 will be bottlenecked in some games by anything lower than i7-6700K OC, that's how powerful they are.

And if you're not playing on a resolution higher than 1080p GTX 1080 will sit there at 30% load at max settings, probably not turning fans for a long time.

It would be helpful if you'd post your CPU model.

I didn't get a notification while writing a post,

Hmm, I'm not really sure how APUs compare to CPUs, but if it's like quad core CPU both 1070 and 1080 will be bottlenecked.

My i5-6600 can't keep up in some games with GTX 1070, but still in most cases I get solid 60 on max settings.

1070 and 1080 will bottleneck hard with an APU, even the 1060 will a little bit.
I have an a8-7650k and rx480, and every game gets held back because of the apu.

So you think is should upgrade my CPU to a actual CPU before i but a graphics card?

If youre getting a 1080 or 1070 yes, otherwise youre just wasting money on a card that you can't get the full potential out of.

What part is wrong? That i5 will bottleneck 1070/1080 in some games,  or that 1080 can handle 1080p60 without any problems? I have 6600+1070 and I can clearly see that cpu is the bottleneck if the frame rate drops below 60.

what cppu do you have? Because if you have a bad cpu and a too good gpu you will get what its called "bottleneck" its bad and will still lower your fps for a gtx 1080 you atleast need a i7 6700 and maybe the i5 6600 will do, the gtx 1070 will have need atleast a i5 6600 so yeah, and dont forget about the psu if you have enough wattage and space and everything! because just upgrading 1 part can lead to upgrading much parts

I have been monitoring my CPU load while playing skyrim with some heavy mods and i can see that i get 17-60 fps depending on what terrain im standing and whats there to render.

i do not have a GPU monitor currently as i am using roccat power grid(phone app), not the most accurate but it gets the job done
do you think that mostly the problem is with my cpu as its not really a cpu but a apu
