Hi guys,

I was looking forward to buying a new Mac(book), as my current Macbook Pro Ret is getting a bit worn out. But after the release of the new MacBooks I really am disliking the way Apple is pricing and configuring it's laptop line. Not to mention the lack of any updates or introduction of a new desktops.

So now after years of using Apple, I really want to try out using a (desktop) PC! Yeah, Windows 10, a bit of gaming yeah!

I'm wondering if someone has some sound suggestions for this first time builder, long time Apple user.

Kind off going for a BW build I guess (happened along the way). After a few weeks of research I have my shopping list down to the following:

NZXT S340 - White

Crucial MX300 - 275GB

Gigabyte GA-B150-HD3P

Intel Core i5-6500 - Boxed

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Corsair Vengeance LPX - DDR4-2666 - Black - 8GB

NZXT Hale82 V2 - 550W

Asus Radeon RX 480 - Dual OC - 4GB GDDR5 (white)

I picked the case, because of it's size. Easy enough to build in.

There are some HD's around here, so I'll be using those, or get a 1/2GB WD blue later.

The motherboard is ATX so enough expansion options for the future, I guess.

The Core i5 should give me enough computing power for some time.

Cooler Master Hyper just looks awesome, but it isn't white :P

Might get another Memory bank later.

Is 550W enough for a build like this, what if I put in 6 more HD's?

Videocards ... so hard to choose.

Will this give my PS4 a run for it's money?

Better quality PSU. What's your budget?

First let me start with welcome to the pc community.

Your build looks good. Umm a better case in my opinion would be the define r5 but if it is purely for aesthetics you should be fine.

This might look nicer in your build. It might be a little more expensive but is

I would get a Gtx 1060 6gb for that build, or an Rx 480 8gb. Also, you probably don't need the CPU cooler, you can use the stock cooler. I have used the stock cooler with the 6500, and at max load (prime95 and aida64) temps topped out at 80, well withen the safe zone. Also, your motherboard won't utilize ram faster than ddr4 2133. It will automatically slow down faster ram. Keep that in mind and pick out a cheaper, slower kit. Also, get a much better PSU. I recommend at least a tier 4, preferably a tier 3, from this list.

a 550 watt grey cx550m is a pretty good bet.

Nzxt s340 is a great case, in terms of aesthetics and functionality. No sense in a nice CPU cooler for a non overclockable chip.

Build looks great!

though if you are not base clock overclocking the i5, I think the 212 eco is overkill (and imo it dosent look that great)

550 watt is enough for the very top end gpus. (If it has enough sata power connectors it will have no problem)

it will beat the ps4 by a long-shot!

Wow, thanks so much.

I've been adding and removing stuff from a cart, so I can show the parts.

Removed the 212 EVO, I really like the Cryorig H7 suggestion! But haven't added it.

Changed the Corsair for Crucial Ballistix, 2400 Mhz. They cost the same, but are white. I couldn't even get a 2133 Mhz for cheaper, but will look further.

Changed the NZXT Hale82 V2 - 550W for a Corsair RMx 650W (gold)

775 euro for now, under the 800!

Looks pretty good, except I don't see any storage of any kind in your cart... You probably should add that in :D

EDIT: Also, that PC will beat your PS4 any day... In games, it's probably around 3 times more powerful :P

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

So, after less then an hour of building AND installing windows, everything works! *sort of*

Window freeze was fixed by updating, but internet speeds are laughable. So slow!

No downloading, no gaming, no Netflix for now.

Some questions:

Somehow, Windows found a pro license on my system, does anybody know what that means?

I now have a fully licensed Pro version of Windows for free.

My Sata power Cable isn't flat, so I can't mout my SSD on the bottom of my case. Am I doing something wrong?
