Should I buy?

The GPU that I've been eying for a while is on sale right now for the next couple of days. It also comes with a mail in rebate so I can save $30 plus the additional $20 that I'll get back later.

 

I don't usually shop for parts around Black Friday, so I don't know what the discounts are. At the same time I'm a little concerned about the availability on Black Friday, I don't know if Newegg has some sort of honor system in place.

 

Do you guys think I should buy it now or wait until Black Friday and hope it will be cheaper?

It has a Price Match guarantee so if you were to buy today, you could use it if the price were to lower in the next [14] days.

I'm not a fan of speculating about the possibility future sales on an item unless they are known about. If you're in the market for a GPU and there are no known imminent new card releases pick what fits your price best, your performance need best and your own preference best and go for it.

 

I would say I personally feel that the card is a good buy as it is now.

What I'm going to do is buy it on Tuesday before the sale ends and see if the 30 day price match will extend to Black Friday so I can use it if necessary.

It'll extend until November 12 if you buy it today.

The policy seems to have changed since the last time I used it. And they also added the stipulation that holiday sales aren't covered.

 

In this case I'd recommend going to PCPP and subscribing for the deals newsletter.

Honestly you're probably looking at the same deal that the holidays will give +/- 10 dollars.

The card in question.

If you buy it now, you get to use it now.  Is saving $10,$20,$30 worth waiting?  That is a $300 card for $260.  It is already a decent deal.

Card is installed and working great. The first thing I did was start up GTA V and max out the settings. 35-40FPS with full AA on is pretty damn good especially since my last card got those same frames at medium-high settings.

Full AA?  You are doing it wrong.  60 FPS on a 60Hz monitor.  That is your goal buddy.  Dips should not be lower than 45FPS.  Average should be above 60.

 

You can do it... this is PC gaming FFS!

I know, I have not intention of running it at those settings full time. But coming from a 760 to a RX 480 I just wanted to see how the other half lived.

After you get the average above 60FPS, if there are dips below 60, use VSync to lock the 60.  It should help with screen tearing. 

 

I could be wrong, you have to test it.
