GPU-MSI GTX 1070 Armor (bought)

PSU-EVGA G2 650W (bought)

I would have said that the GTX-1070 is overkill unless you run 1440p or 1080p at 120-144Hz - and that the 650watt PSU is overkill and 500-550watts is enough ....

But, you've already bought them anyway, so, no big deal. :)

(And you've suggested you'll want to run at 144 Hz)

P.S. Thread212 always neglects the fact that an i5-6600K or i7-6700K costs more than an i5-6500, plus a Z170 mobo costs more than an H170, plus a Hyper 212 or AIO water cooler costs more than Cryorig M9i (or stock, or Hyper 101i).

He wants you to spend $200-300 dollars so that your fps can go from 95 fps all the way up to 100 fps - a change you'll never notice. :)

Hi, Can someone give me some advice this is my current rig, I am thinking to update it with the new gtx 1070 or 1080:

MSI x99s mpower

16gb of ram (Ballistix Sport LT (2x8gb) is it good?)

msi gtx 970 oc

2tb hybrid storage

i7 5820k

Do I need to change my ram stick?

1.I agree with you that I6500 would bottleneck the 1070. but it wont create a catastrophic Fps drop.

2.You can find some benchmark from reviewer website which is more accurate and they test it more than once.
It depends on the RIG.

3.Thats not what i am trying to say. i am saying that i use 6600k with 1060 and never encountered fps drop so if the op has 6600k with 1070 so i doubt he will encounter an fps drop at1080p.

4.Well thank you. :$

*So conclusion = i think if the op already has 1070 which is a high end GPU. its best for him to upgrade his cpu to either 6600k or 6700k with z170 motherboard. but if he cant afford them. then its best for him to save his money.
Although i think he made a mistakes when buying a gpu and the psu too if he's going to use that i6500 Cpu.

i know it will be proper to use z170 and k Cpu if u had 1070. but i6500 with 1070 at 1080p is good enough if he cant wait.

And what if i will run my monitor at 144 Hz?

An x99? u must be enthusiast or something else.
No u dont need to change ur memory.
Just get either 1070 or 1080.
But based on ur rig. u must be can afford 1080 so go get it.

NP: Use either SSD for Boot drive or HDD for storage. dont buy SSHD.

Thx

LOL No. this is my first reply

Sorry, but I got you confused with another poster who keeps linking that same video (in other threads).

Worse than that - you were only replying to Jorgen297's post with the video. :o

That's what happens when I post before I've had enough coffee. :)
