For a project of mine I'm busy trying to design a new controller for PC. Since I want to tap into the current controller support it'll be based on the Xbox One controller, mostly it's inputs. However, for brainstorming reasons I need complaints about the current and older controllers. I've done some digging, came up with some answers and figured out some complaints on my own. But more are always better, so I can fix them. The controller will not focus on playing games like Shooters, RTS or point-and-click games.

Now this is for a concept product. If this topic gets some traction I'll post updates on the project (due in 3 weeks so you don't have to wait that long). It'll have sketches and functions. I'll make detailed 3D model in January, also part of the project.
Keep in mind, I'm no engineer, I'm a UX designer. I have basic know-how of electronics and usually know what is possible and what is not. I've tore down and reassembled some controllers so I have a basic understanding on how all the buttons work. But the main focus is to make it the best controller for the consumer.

Thanks in advance!

Note: not sure if right subforum, but couldn't really find a "controller" subforum.

My biggest complaints with controllers are the analog sticks (a type of input with only a few good uses that they're trying to use for everything) and the fact that you need to not press certain buttons in order to press others.

I'm interested to see what you come up with~

What do you mean with not press certain buttons in order to press others? Like the controller cant send 2 buttons inputs or that it's physical impossible to press certain buttons at the same time?

I mean that controllers are usually designed in such a way that one finger is responsible for multiple functions that you'd want to do at the same time. With FPS games on an Xbox controller, for example, you have to stop controlling the camera to use the button pad.

How would you prefer to fix the issue. At the moment there are two mainstream solutions to this problem. First one is adding (remapable) buttons like the Razer Wildcat, Xbox one Elite and scuf. The second is controller attachments like these: https://www.avengercontroller.com/product/avenger-reflex-xbox-one-now-available/

I've got that attachment, and it's quite uncomfortable to use.

The Steam Controller does a fairly good job of it with the paddles (as well as how much you can make the trackpads do), but I think they could've added another set to the back or something like that.
