so yesterday i went over to a friends to help fix his computer while my computer was running transferring data. i then returned home to see my computer was off i was thinking it was in a standby mode and then went to switch it back on and when i did my power supply made a small click noise as if it was cutting itself off because of bad power since then i have done many tests and it all basicly leads down to the motherboard and i was wondering what could have caused this? (power supply=corsair hx1050 gold) (motherboard=asus p9x79pro)

I would try removing things from your computer part by part, hoping thaf you don't have to replace the true guts of it. Remove things part by part until you can PoST. If not you're boned, and will likely have to replace the motherboard. If you have another computer handy test the PSU in that.

yea tried all of that but at least i wont have to pull it apart ill just give my whole rig into the place and they will rebuild it hopefully well that is if it defiantly is the motherboard

Power surge/spike most likely. You wouldn't happen to be in my neighbourhood would you? Transformer blew down the street last night and power got cut to a few homes.. Have you got the ability to switch in other parts?
